ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: SEBASTIAN WAHL

Sebastian Wahl Artist New York, NY Sebastian’s mission is to take collage to new and uncharted territories. His work encompasses everything from psychedelic landscapes to iconic, mandalic and spiritual surrealism. The attention to detail and sense of symmetry, balance and color bring all the elements included in his pieces together to create countless harmonious mirages. Sebastian creates three-dimensional collages by layering images on a hardened layer of clear resin before pouring a successive layer on top. This process is repeated as many as fifteen times, resulting in artworks that measure up to one inch in depth. This layering technique is very important since it gives his collages a unique edge and spotlights the artist’s skill and dedication to his craft. The actual shadows cast between the individual layers create a sense of curiosity and wonder, drawing one in to explore the work more intimately. In Spring of last year, we teamed up with Sebastian and Black Lake Media members Matt Cummer and Nick Grimshaw to create a one-of-a-kind live visual piece for ‘Journey To The Center’. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: TAKAYUKI SATO

Takayuki Sato Design / Animation / Direction Tokyo, Japan Takayuki is a freelance motion designer and director, currently based in Japan. After starting his career in 1999 at a post-production company in Tokyo, Takayuki moved to the US in 2004 to study English and motion graphics at university. He began working in motion graphics in LA in 2006 as designer and animator to gain some experiences, and in 2009 he moved to Prologue Films, where he got the opportunity to work on several feature films. After nine years in the US, Takayuki returned to Japan in 2013 to take care of his family. He resumed his career in Japan, where he made his first directed short-film ‘The Moment of Beauty’. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: TOMMIE GERAEDTS

Tommie Geraedts Video Director Amsterdam, NL Tommie Geraedts is a short-form film director from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He likes to dip into surreal and illustrative worlds to visualize things that are not always there. With a background in design and visual effects he weaves the fabrics of these disciplines together with live action film to tell his stories. Next to music videos, he has also directed award-winning short films and commercials. The search for spirituality and purpose is a central theme in Tommie’s often visceral work. Nature supplies inspiration for these themes. He also likes hiking through the mountains and having adventures in far away countries.
